About the Author
Peter Carey is a zoologist who has made more than 60 trips to Antarctica working as a lecturer and expedition leader. He is the director of the conservation organization Subantarctic Foundation for Ecosystems Research. Craig Franklin is a zoology professor at the University of Queensland and has made more than 20 trips to Antarctica. He has published more than 100 scientific works, including articles in the academic journals Nature and Science.

Super info for a cruise to Antarctica

I went to Antarctica in February, 2016, and am going back in mid-December, 2017. Antarctica was my favorite trip of many post-retirement travels. This is a super book for people visiting Antarctica by cruise ship, and how else are you going to do it? Most people don't own yachts that are capable of crossing the Drake Passage. The book includes great photos and plenty of info about all the birds and mammals you will see on your trip and many of the landings that you will do by zodiac without a lot of info that you don't need. Considering what you pay for a cruise to Antarctica, this book is a teeny investment. This book and a good map (which you can buy in the gift shop of your cruise ship) will really enhance your trip.

Great photos and descriptions of locations/wildlife

I like this easy to use guide. There are lots of maps and color photos. Many of the commonly visited areas among cruise ships along the Antarctic peninsula have at least a 2 page spread with text on what to see/do and photos. The text is brief, which makes it easy to read. I ordered the book for research on my upcoming trip to Antarctica. I haven't finished reading the book yet, or gone on my trip, so an update will be likely. The book is small and a little heavy, but I will probably still bring it with me. There is a large section of color photos for identifying the wildlife as well. Looking forward to using this!

Great Preview to the Actual Trip!

Am in the process of reading this in preparation for my trip to Antarctica. Before it arrived I didn't think I'd take it along. When I arrived I was surprised at how heavy it is but that is due to the high quality paper used. I like the organization used and while each item is brief, I think there is probably just enough information printed. Now I'm thinking I'll take it along and probably make notes in it. The section on each possible landing site will be most helpful for tracking the actual places we go and later for helping to review the trip for years to come.

Someone who understands it as far is possibel

The Cloud of Unknowing is a classical on christian mysticism. It is, with Saint John of the Cross, the Pseudo-Dyonisius, and a few others, one of the best ways to somehow understand what mysticism. I say "somehow", because the highest mysticism is a contact (through love) with the Transcendence (God). Understanding the real mysticism is not common, you have to have some experience of it or at least have a kind of "feeling" for it. Well, the author of this book, William Johnston, knows very well (again, as far it is possible) what he is talking about. His book should be rated as one excellent work on The Cloud of Unknowing. So, if you want some introduction before reading The Cloud of Unknowing itself, this book by William Johnston is certainly an excellent one.

Still valuable classic

This commentary has been considered the classic one on the First Epistle of Peter for many years. However, it does have some exegetical mistakes, largely from conclusions drawn from too little evidence. It is still valuable, though, as Selwyn draws a great deal from the text that is, on the whole, reliable.

An Oldy but a Goody

Dated, even ancient by today's standards with new books coming out practically on top of one another. Selwyn, however, does something which is not as common today as it should be--he takes the Greek text apart piece by piece, looks at it, discerns it, studies it, exegetes it and then provides a comment on the reading. Helpful for exegesis; I found it useful in preparatory work for writing sermons.

Dr. Anthony A. Olinzock is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Instructional Systems, Leadership, and Workforce Development at Mississippi State University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Olinzock has taught at both the secondary and university levels. His initial teaching experience was at Uniontown Area Senior High School, Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He has also taught at The Ohio State University, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Olinzock¿s professional accomplishments included over 20 published textbooks and over a hundred articles and professional presentations.

Good material for keyboarding classes.

Obviously, this is required material for a keyboarding class. I finished my original required coursework within a few weeks, so I started another class' coursework (teacher wants me to improve my speed; my accuracy is high). Good practices on specific keys if the student needs to build up speed/agility on them (i.e. Q or symbols). A bit annoying doing them constantly. (I don't think teachers or the writers of the program understand that the brain's signals to the nerves in the fingers sometimes do not fire off as rapidly as they want; as much as they want the fingers to type the letters quicker, it isn't always possible no matter how hard a student works!) There is a Boggle-type game at the end of each section for the fun of it.

Overall, good book, easy to read & use, with progress reports that are easy to understand.

Another great undergraduate book

Hallo and Simpson provide another choice to instructors of ancient Near Eastern history. Well researched, supported, and clearly written, it can easily serve as the only text for an introductory class. Non-specialists and laypeople may wish to consult it for basic facts.
