AWESOME RESOURCE

I love this book. My garden is still a hot mess, but not because of a lack of info, only because of lack of energy and committment.
I love that it speaks to specifically southern california and our struggles here to keep plants alive in a desert climate. I live about 5 miles from the beach and we have our own microclimate. many plants have paid with their lives, but this book addresses issues to help keep them safe and alive. She goes month by month on what we should be doing and of course you can read ahead to know what you will be doing. this helps with budgeting as well. no surprises and some really easy advice to follow. each page has a wealth of knowledge and gems that you would find in the nooks of the book. if you are in so cal and are interested in gardening, you should already be an owner of this book.

Finally a book for this area

While the Suset "Western Guidebook" is the quintessential book for all those who garden in the area, it is wonderful to read a book such as this that addresses our area specifically. What is especially helpful is the monthly guide for planting and garden care. With good advice to organic garden care. For anybody who lives in So. Cal., I recommend this book highly.

A must have for Southern California gardeners

This books puts the months of the year as it relates to my garden into perspective. I know what to do and I know when to do it. I have learned so many things. Over the last five years I read the coming month as it closes in. It's easy to digest one month at a time. I keep learning new things and attempt new ones as I'm ready to do more. Even if you are not into growing vegetables it says so much on maintaining your lawn, shrubs, roses and trees. When (and how) to plant flowers. On top of all that the book discusses options for low-water plants and water saving techniques.

Finally - this book has allowed me to enjoy my yard more as I have found ways to make it easier and require less time to get more out of it.

If you are not from Southern California it's still a great book especially if you live in the South where winters are light.

Some interrogate male beauty through the female gaze and look to the influence of female performance on notions of masculine beauty. Others examine how queer and racial constructions of male beauty refuse and offer alternatives to hegemonic models of identity. Another revisits previous philosophical and theoretical conceptions of beauty, only to deconstruct gendered conceptions of the beautiful and the sublime. In all, these essays complicate masculine beauty by examining Chicano, Asian, working class, and female constructions of male beauty in Western culture.

About the Author
Maglina Lubovich teaches in the departments of English and Women�s Studies at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Steven Davis is currently completing his dissertation on pulp magazines in the literature department at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he specializes in twentieth-century American literature and gender studies.

One of the most interesting ideas in this book is the concept that many decisions in the workplace are not between right and wrong, but rather decisions between right and right. This book will open your mind to new ways of evaluating decisions in the workplace.

Surprisingly important book for new managers.

I read this a few years after I had been in senior management and wished deeply that I had discovered it earlier. One of the great challenges facing new managers is decision making where the choices all involve some positive and negative aspects. There are also many organization pressures that force individuals to consider suboptimal paths to "be a team player."

It's a slippery slope and one that is hard to navigate without a great deal of thought and a clarity of personal professional purpose.

This is a small book that easily engages the reader in a fascinating path to understanding these core management issues.

Management, especially senior management, starts to look like politics and turns into a soup of interests and circumstances that make the "right" decision hard to discern and possibly even harder to live with.

Given the impact to size ratio and high quality of the writing I'd make this book a must-read in the category.

When managers are making choices, we typically evaluate them by attempting to determine which choice is right and which is not. Many times both choices are "right" choices which makes the decision more difficult and more frustrating for managers.

Badaracco provides excellent examples of real life situations where managers had to choose between "right" and "right" in making a decision. The decision making process used by each manager in the examples was assessed from the philosophical prospectives of three prominant philosophers, Aristotle, Nietzsche, and Machiavelli.

A great read with valuable advice for everyone, not just managers.

About the Author
"David Capuzzi," Ph.D., N.C.C., L.P.C., is a past president of the American Counseling Association (formerly the American Association for Counseling and Development) and is professor and coordinator of Counselor Education in the Graduate School of Education at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

A former editor of The School Counselor, Dr. Capuzzi has authored a number of textbook chapters and monographs on the topic of preventing adolescent suicide and is coeditor and author, with Dr. Larry Golden, of "Helping Families Help Children: Family Interventions with School Related Problems" and "Preventing Adolescent Suicide." He co-authored and edited "Youth at Risk: A Prevention Resource for Counselors, Teachers, and Parents; Introduction to the Counseling Profession; Introduction to Group Counseling" and "Counseling and Psychotherapy: Theories and Interventions" with Douglas R. Gross. He has authored or co-authored articles in a number of ACA-related journals.

A frequent speaker and keynoter at professional conferences and institutes, Dr. Capuzzi has also consulted with a variety of school districts and community agencies interested in initiating prevention and intervention strategies for adolescents at risk for suicide. He has facilitated the development of suicide prevention, crisis management, and post intervention programs in communities throughout the United States; provides training on the topics of "youth at risk" and "grief and loss"; and serves as an invited adjunct faculty member at other universities as time permits. He is the first recipient of ACA's Kitty Cole Human Rights Award.

About the Author

John Stredwick is a writer and consultant in human resources, specialising in reward and flexible working practices. He spent 25 years as an HR practitioner, including experience in publishing, shipbuilding and building services with 11 years as Head of HR at Everest Double Glazing. From 1992 until 2010, he was Senior Lecturer and Head of CIPD studies at Bedfordshire University. What a Journey? The Gathering takes You away, and You never want to return!

If You have already read the first two in the prophecy series, then you have been waiting for this story to be told and finished. Have you every wondered what would have been if The First People or Natives to the North and South America Continents, had been prepared when the Spainards or the Europeans landed on the beaches in their boats? If the invaders had not committed the biggest genocide of the Natives, what our world would have been today?
Dinah McCall aka as Sharon Sala takes Us on a journey in 3 books that would have shown how things could have been if The First People were ready in the Gathering and the whole Prophecy series.
In this book Typhen and Yuma are trying to lead their people back across from the state of Oklahoma to the Mountains and Ocean on the Atlantic Eastern seashore! Typhen is the daughter of a Windwalker who we meet in the first book in this series! All the Natives have gathered to meet the one who will save their world! Every tribe is at this Gathering, and working together to learn and be taught how to work beside the new ones that came from the Firewalksrs burnt lands! I don't want to give too much away, however Dinah aka Sharon has weaved a story full of twist and turns that keep you so engrossed in the story, that when it ends, you are sad to be back in reality. There is a surprise twist at the end, I won't spoil it! You will cry, shout, And every other emotion will come out and the journey is so worth it! Every woman, though strong and independent should have a man and lover as Yuma is to Typhen!

Through great tragedy comes great triumph

The Gathering is the third book in The Prophecy series, and in this part of the story, Tyhen seeks to fulfill her destiny to unite the New Ones--those that came through a magical portal from the future with The People who lived in ancient times, before the invaders slaughtered thousands and took over the lands. She is The Dove, who is protected by The Eagle, known to many as Yuma, who came through the portal with Layla Birdsong/Singing Bird and swore to protect the Windwalker's daughter while she was still in her mother's womb. Though The Dove is barely an adult, she leads her people with fierce determination, always seeking others' comfort and safety before her own. The trail is fraught with many hazards and tears, and her people must reach The Gathering before the winter storms overtake them.

A running theme throughout each of the books is the hero's love for his heroine, and each man's declaration to each woman, "You will love me, and I will guard you with my life." At the heart of it all, the driving force is love--a couple's love for each other, the love of a parent for a child, the love of the leaders for their people. Love can take us through the darkest hours, the greatest hardship, the most profound loss. Love makes us do for others, even if we would have given up on doing for ourselves. Thus series is the ultimate time travel romance.

The author tells the story as it is given to her in a dream, and that's part of what makes her writing as Dinah McCall so unique. She allows the story flow as it is given to her, as it is given by The Old Ones. I was so pleased to reach the end of the gathering and discover that this was not the last story of The Prophecy Series, and I look forward to the next installment.

The wait for this book was absolutely worth it. The author has a voice that resonates across the pages that makes putting it down unfinished virtually impossible, l was reading until 3:45am. The journey she takes her characters and her readers on is epic. I highly recommend this book to anyone and if you have not yet read the two previous books, you should.

This book is the first complete modern Latin edition with an English translation of the Descriptio obsidionis Rhodiae. Two other published eyewitness accounts, Pierre D’Aubusson’s Relatio obsidionis Rhodie and Jacomo Curte’s De urbis Rhodiae obsidione a. 1480 a Turcis tentata, also appear in modern Latin edition and English translation. This book also includes John Kay’s Description of the Siege of Rhodes and an English translation of Ademar Dupuis’ Le si�ge de Rhodes. The lengthy introductory chapters by Theresa Vann place the Ottoman siege of Rhodes in 1480 within the context of Mehmed II’s expansion in the Eastern Mediterranean after he captured Constantinople in 1453.
