tightly packed goodness!

A new month, a new beautiful Cleis Press anthology edited by the ever so talented goddess of gratuitous greatness – Alison Tyler. This time, we are invited to share in those short and most intimate moments of Sudden Sex. As someone who has dabbled in erotic writing herself, I know how hard it is to get to the good bits within a few hundred words while still giving the reader a chance to connect with the characters and their private scene. Sudden Sex is full of impressions, of glimpses through key-holes and carelessly left open blinds; it is an anthology that hardly lets you come up for air, it is so tightly packed! (That’s what she said! *squeal!*)
I have the pleasure of talking in more detail about one story in particular: Nice Dream by J. Sinclaire. Beneath this deceptively simple title lies a tiny explosion of words and themes.
On the surface, it is the impression of a woman only half walking up while her partner makes love to her in the middle of the night. There is the hazy quality of a slow and tender moment, mixed with little stylistic loops and writerly jokes that had me laugh out loud and get all soft inside all at the same time. And that is not easy!
Nice Dream takes a break from the frenzy it is surrounded by and takes the act of intercourse onto a dreamy, almost transcendent level – a warm place of semi-reality where words and metaphors, body-parts and sensations are toys to play with and to arrange in a never ending series of sticky happiness. Jam fingers. And cotton candy clouds.

With 69 sexy short stories you can't go wrong. These stories are sexy enough to get you in the mood, Short enough to pick it up and read a story or 2 when you only have a few minutes. They are also well written and varied no 2 stories are the same. You will want to read several or all in one sitting. Alison Tyler is so talented when it comes to compiling these stories and placing them in the perfect order.
Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something sexy to read. Great addition to the nightstand.
