Nothing new for anime fans, but excellent nonetheless.

First and foremost, for those that have watched both seasons of the Spice and Wolf anime, this book covers the latter half of the second season. In fact, every volume published up until now has been covering the anime material, with the only exception being volume 4 (which the anime skipped over). That being said, if you are a fan of the anime, the light novel counterpart will not disappoint you. The light novels delve into the story in ways that the anime doesn't quite do, and the small details that you would overlook in the anime are much more noticeable in the light novel.

This volume (5th) is no exception, where it covers Lawrence and Horo once again involved in a very risky business affair. It's certainly worth a read, especially for anime fans. As for translation quality, aside from a few minor hiccups, the quality is both good and consistent. Yen Press has done a good job with bringing this series over to the West so far, and I hope that it continues to do so.

My only real complaint here is pretty much not important, but I'll mention it anyways. I have a tablet that I'm accustomed to reading books on, so having a digital copy to this light novel would have been fantastic. Perhaps Yen Press could bundle a digital copy with the physical copy? It would be much more convenient for somebody like me, who carries around most of his book library on a tablet.

Now I'm eagerly awaiting the 6th volume, which will be the 1st light novel volume that will truly have non-anime material that continues the main storyline.

Read it all in one sitting

In this adventure the stakes are less personal for lawrence and holo but they hit close to home all the same.

More is revealed of the disaster that befell Yoitsu, but uncovering this information may cause disaster to befall the town which keeps these secrets. Just as Lawrence and Holo are growing closer together the realiztion that someday thier journey will end forces them to think about parting. Lawrence and Holo must use thier cunning, and business sense to solve other peoples problems this time around... but can doing so help them conquer thier own?

Well I started reading this last night and stayed up late, late, late finishing it.
Lawrence and Holo trade jabs, plots, and banter with Lawrence evidently learning a thing or two and actually managing to get the upperhand on Holo once or twice. I'm so happy to have new Spice and Wolf material!

Awesome book but missing...

I ordered this with a few others and I was disappointed that this book didn't come with the American dust jacket. I have volumes 1-2 with jackets but this one was missing. that's why it gets a 4 star rating. it's a disappointment to me because I love to collect as well as enjoy the read. the Japanese cover that it has standard is great but I'd like to see the American cover as well, being that I bought this in America. other than the omission of the dust jacket it's a great read and aim my opinion a awesome series!

Yes, it will cover all of the basics such as title tags and meta descriptions, but I will also delve into some of the more technical aspects of on-page SEO such as structured data, rel=canonical, and JavaScript.

This tutorial is intended for SEO consultants, in-house SEO’s, those working at SEO agencies, and anyone in general looking to learn more about SEO.
I wrote this book on on-page SEO because I could not find a book on this subject that I would recommend to a friend. There are a number of guides scattered throughout the web that come close, but I am yet to find a comprehensive guide on the subject.

This is my first self-published book, so please bear with me. I've written the book, designed it, edited it and proof-read it myself. My secondary motivation for this book is for the experience, I really wanted to learn what it was like to self-publish an eBook from start to finish.

I can't tell you how many times I've agreed with Pat on and off the SEO forums where active SEO's get together for die hard discussion about SEO. These guys are some of the most passionate and determined SEO's on the planet and right at the top of my list would be the author of the book. In it you will find a very easy way to clear up any confusion about the who-said-what-works about SEO. This stuff works, it's timeless. This book will save you a lot of the hassles and frustrations that Pat had endured when SEO started to see significant changes in 2010. Pat knew he has to adapt or die and what you will find in this book is exactly what he did to stay ranking in the SERPS.

Whether you're an amateur that's trying to figure out how to go about on-page SEO properly or an advanced SEO that is willing to learn a few new things, this book is well worth it. I knew a thing or two about SEO in general, but On-Page was always tricky. I've implemented many of the things I learned in this book on a pretty large e-commerce site and within a week we saw a major increase in long-tail keyword traffic which resulted in thousands of dollars in revenue. Not bad for $4.99, I'd say!

I don't consider myself to be an SEO but it is definitely an industry that I've been learning about for a while. Obviously anyone who uses a website to do any type of business should know as much as possible and I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book before it was on Amazon. Is well written and the topics are very well explained, some of it was a bit advanced but most of it is suitable for beginners. Duefinitely recommend this to anyone looking to learn SEO.

This textbook came on time and was protected with Amazon's usual packaging for textbooks. It is well written and extremely easy to read. While a lot of textbooks can seem dull, I would definitely recommend this book to all professors for career counseling classes.

Bob Sweet has more than 30 years of experience in the technology and electronics markets and 30 years of boating experience. He has both BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Penn State. Well written, nicely illustrated, and utterly practical

For most boaters, power or sail, this is your best bet for a single, clear, comprehensive guide to piloting and navigation. The author, Sweet, is very knowledgeable and takes a straightforward approach to navigation in the electronic age. He makes a strong case for developing the skills to navigate without relying on electronic Chartplotters and Global Positioning Systems (which CAN and DO fail, like any other electronic device); however, he does not condescend to the reader on this issue, nor does he exclude those electronic devices from consideration. On the contrary, the nicest aspect of this book is the way it INTEGRATES electronic and traditional means of piloting, showing you how each can complement the other in useful ways. The result is a book that will teach you how to understand and use your electronics better, while developing traditional navigational skills that may save your life (or at least save you some inconvenience) the next time your electronics go down.

I've read a lot of books on navigation in the last 20 years. Sweet does a better-than-average job of explaining traditional piloting techniques in an accessible manner, with very nice illustrations that allow the reader to reflect on and absorb some of the abstract concepts involved. (Piloting is not hard, but it can feel overwhelming and confusing at first until you really "get" it.) Sweet is also one of the only authors I've come across who talks about electronic navigation methods as the normal reality for day-to-day navigation among most boaters (which it is!). Most other books relegate electronic devices to an isolated chapter, seem hopelessly out of date with regard to modern GPS innovations, and/or discuss electronic navigation as if it is an afterthought. Sweet talks as if he understands, realistically, that GPS will be the primary source of navigational information for the boaters he is addressing, and that is why his tone and approach come across so well. Along the way, he makes good recommendations about other resources to consult, such as Nigel Calder's definitive guide to reading a nautical chart, and to the free Coastal Explorer software that provides an excellent way to view NOAA raster charts for free on your computer. I am convinced of his credibility. This is a resource I would not hesitate to trust. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a clear and comprehensive guide to modern navigation.

I would NOT buy the Kindle edition, since the illustrations in this book are very important to developing a full understanding of certain concepts, and would not likely display well on the Kindle (smaller, without color, etc.).

Excellent Piloting Book

I've got a half dozen books on coastal navigation (piloting actually) and all are good, but Bob Sweet's book integrates GPS with traditional piloting methods in a way none of the rest do. Most books are either all about getting the most out of your GPS, or they concentrate on traditional charting methods then update the subject with separate chapters on GPS, RADAR, LORAN, etc.
This book approaches 21 first century piloting as an integrated plan for most conditions that shows the roles played by your charts, your electronics, and your common sea sense in a balanced, minute by minute situational awareness where no single tool predominates.
In short, Sweet's book answers the question I always had after reading other books: "OK, so how to I put all this together on the bay with only two hands, two eyes and one brain? This book shows how to do it without overloading yourself.

A well planned book, manufactured nicely with good paper and color.

Practical and Thorough

A great book for how most people navigate today. I completed the ASA navigation course, but its complete lack of GPS use and focus on complex math made for a steep learning curve, and I was not comfortable relying on it in practical applications without much more time on the water. This book uses a nice combination of paper charts and electronics, that actually works on the water. Being six years old, much of the specific tech has changed, but I was still able to use it with a new Garmin handheld chart-plotter to navigate my first three day charter in the Tampa Bay area. I wish I would have read it before purchasing a GPS as I would have purchased a more simple unit and invested more in other navigation areas.

Entertaining, informing and thought-provoking

For me reading `Leadership Transformed', a new book by Dr. Peter Fuda, was a rare pleasure. I'd strongly recommend it to others.

It did two things that most books of its genre (business, leadership, self-help etc.) usually fail to do; it kept me interested throughout its 190 pages, eagerly moving through the chapters as I would a good novel; and it made me think, think deeply about the both the specific content of the book and the context in which it applies.

Why was it a `page turner'?

Many business books contain one fundamental maxim, which is repeated in several guises. These books can often be summarized in one phrase - do this, or don't do that. I quickly get bored with them. It's like different dressings on the same house salad. Peter Fuda provides a much richer and more fulfilling experience as he explains the 7 metaphors for Leadership Transformation that emerged from his research. Each is sufficiently independent to merit separate attention, whilst they are sufficiently complementary and interrelated that they must be considered as a whole. So the book provides a perfect 7 course tasting menu. It's also fun to read. It's jargon free and built upon meaningful personal anecdotes from the author and his research subjects. At times it has a `reality TV' feel as we retrospectively share their experiences.

Why did it make me think?

In terms of the content, I considered each of the metaphors and how they have, or may in the future, apply to me. I'm going to try the exercises that are offered on the PeterFuda.com blog to learn more. I also thought about the attributes that underpin the `transformed' versions of the leaders who are profiled. I saw these as authenticity, humility, an openness to feedback, self-awareness and an abiding commitment. There are several mentions of spirituality in the book and this set of attributes certainly describes someone who is at peace with themselves or `comfortable in their own skin' as Fuda puts it.

Most of the changes described corrected for an absence of (or was it just the underuse of?) these attributes. Which got me to think about the context. What had caused these successful executives to adopt behaviors that were undermining their effectiveness - to appear to be inauthentic, unaware, closed, and driven by fear? To what extent were those the pressures of society in general, the expectations of business world, the culture of the particular companies in which they worked, or the prior experiences of the individuals themselves? I guess that the "Russian Doll" metaphor provides the answer - some of all of the above.

Good common sense advice. More difficult to apply in reality

In an age where so many managers just don't "get it", and I fear transitional generations are only learning the bad behavior of "intimidation and bullying" management styles, this book can be an eye opener, or at least the beginning steps on a transforming journey of introspection.

I like the brevity of the chapters and the metaphors, and they illustrate real areas of needed focus, however, the author leaves the bulk of the work and figuring out what that work might be, to the reader.

In a broad sense (and I've been there recently) there needs to be a lot of self-honesty and reflection.
Another book that came to mind while reading this was "The Power of Resilience" and how to change "negative scripts". This dovetails nicely with the "film metaphor" of "considering how your life might resemble the movie "Groundhog day" and perpetuating reality.

This book provides a nice and brief framework for laying out a road map for change.

A unique and powerful approach to transforming your leadership

I was inspired to read this book by the subtitle `how ordinary managers become extraordinary leaders'. As an entrepreneur, I love learning about the amazing feats performed in work and non work settings by very ordinary people. The idea of a book which unpicked this phenomenon in the leadership space and debunked the myth of the perfect CEO really appealed to me.

I found Leadership Transformed a fascinating and worthwhile read. I identified with some of the struggling leaders in the stories Fuda described and laughed at the warts and all accounts of their early attempts to lead. In my opinion, the seven metaphors are an accessible and very effective way to convey just the right amount of leadership theory combined with a practical take on modern philosophy and simple common sense. The practical strategies and approaches described will be equally relevant and helpful whether you work in a large corporate or a small business. As an example, this is the first leadership manual I have read which acknowledges the very real and meaningful role family and friends play as sources of leadership coaching and insight. I suspect this book is one that I will return to frequently.
