About the Author
B. Lautrup is a professor in theoretical physics at the Niels Bohr International Academy in the Niels Bohr Institute under the University of Copenhagen. He is also chairman of the Center for the Philosophy of Nature and Science Studies at the University of Copenhagen. His research interests include complex systems, fluid mechanics, and network theory.

perfect introduction to classical physics of solids and fluids

This is the book I have been looking for.
Lautrup presents the material very clearly. He provides physical motivation, states assumptions underlying approximations, and develops the classical physics of solids and fluids concisely but thoroughly.
Look no further if you want to quickly familiarize yourself with the first principles behind elasticity theory and fluid dynamics.
