About the Author
Lydia Brownback (MAR, Westminster Theological Seminary) serves as a senior editor at Crossway in Wheaton, Illinois, and an author and speaker at women’s conferences around the world. Lydia previously served as writer in residence for Alistair Begg and as producer of the Bible Study Hour radio program with James Montgomery Boice.
J. I. Packer (DPhil, Oxford University) serves as the Board of Governors’ Professor of Theology at Regent College. He is the author of numerous books, including the classic best-seller Knowing God. Packer served as general editor for the English Standard Version Bible and as theological editor for the ESV Study Bible.
Dane C. Ortlund (PhD, Wheaton College) is the executive vice president of Bible publishing and Bible publisher at Crossway. He serves as an editor for the Knowing the Bible series and the Short Studies in Biblical Theology series, and is the author of several books, including Edwards on the Christian Life. He lives with his wife, Stacey, and their five children in Wheaton, Illinois.
Lane T. Dennis�is president and publisher of Crossway Books and Good News Tracts. Dr. Dennis earned his BS in business from Northern Illinois University, an MDiv from McCormick Theological Seminary, and a PhD in religion from Northwestern University. Before joining Good News Publishers in 1974, he served as a pastor in campus ministry at the University of Michigan (Sault Ste. Marie) and as the Managing Director of Verlag Grosse Freude in Switzerland. He is the author and/or editor of three books, including the Gold Medallion-award-winning book Letters of Francis A. Schaeffer, and he is the former Chairman of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. Review: Proverbs-A 12 Week Study

Since receiving this study back in August, I have spent a considerable amount of time going through Proverbs - A 12 Week Study and making notes for this review.
For starters, this isn't an "easy" study to do on your own. I would recommend this study for a group setting for adults. My home church is currently hosting another bible study on Thursday mornings from the series Knowing Your Bible, Proverbs is also apart of the Knowing Your Bible series by Crossway.
Each week, Proverbs invites the scholar (you) to study certain passages from Proverbs. The passages for weekly study range from one chapter or more. Each weekly section, there are questions to be answered about the passage not only to engage the scholar, but for a group discussion. I felt I got more out of the questions themselves than I did answering them on my own. Almost each question had a key point backed up by scripture allowing me to learn from the question, but still allowing me to answer the question with my own thoughts and opinions. Also, there are definitions at the bottom of most pages to clarify any words within the questions a scholar might not understand.
Towards the end of the study questions, there are four sections for the scholar to read over to help understand the bigger picture of the passage: Gospel Glimpses, Whole-Bible Connections, Theological Soundings, and Personal Implications. I think this part is the most enlightening to the learning scholar by showing how the passage fits in the grand scheme of the Bible, especially the Gospel Glimpses section.
For anyone who is starting to get serious about studying the bible-hands down this is the study for you. Be prepared to learn about scripture rather than applying it.
